I measured myself to be a 30 waist but had to return them and get the 28 instead, If your larger at the top of the legs then trying to get waist size to go with the thigh size might be trickie unless you get to fit thighs and dart the waist, I also had to stitch the pleat bit on pockets as they make your legs look bigger lol but otherwise a happy purchase, in 5'4 size 10.
